Today we got one shot. That's it. One chance to get a photo. One click. No trying again, so checking the back of the camera and then changing things up. It was about being intentional with our decisions and relying on our knowledge of photography to get what we wanted. We had to post the shot as is. No editing at all. Just the real deal. We were not expecting a perfect photo, but rather, an eye-opening challenge.
I was in Prince George for a medical appointment today and the treatment always knocks me out, so I had to get my shot before I got home and settled on the couch for the night. We were driving home at sunset and it was beautiful. As we went around a corner, the big ball of sun came blazing out from behind a hill. I jumped out on the side of the highway, got seated at the right angle and manually set my light meter to underexpose the sun. I manually set my focus on the grass, and figured, "Okay, here goes nothin'!" The wind came up just as I took my shot. That was it. No going back. It's a bit hazy from the wind, but I love it! It's real, no pretenses. I'll take it!
