Twenty-one days ago, a group of fabulous photographers set out to see what they were made of. Experience levels ranged from brand new to professional. Equipment ranged from cell phones to full frame sensors, flashlights to studio soft boxes. Lifestyles ranged from working-career-women to dad-on-paternity-leave with six kids. They came from around British Columbia, representing Terrace, Prince George, Quesnel, 100 Mile House, Kamloops and New Westminster. But they all had the same goal: to create a photo every single day for 21 days straight.
Every day I sent them a new assignment, along with photography tips, videos and professional critiques of their images, urging them to challenge themselves and grow in their skill level. They worked hard and dug deep. The finished collection is full of emotional, hilarious, scary, impacting, memorable photographs. I gave up trying to narrow them down to only one per day and chose anywhere from 1-4 for each theme. There are so many more amazing photographs that I didn't have room to include, so if you know any of these photographers personally, urge them to share a gallery of their projects from the Awaken Challenge.
If you are interested in signing up for a future challenge, no matter what your skill or experience level, email Tineke at northernpersona@telus.net to get put on our info list for the next round.
