I enjoyed this challenge immensely. It was all about reflections today - close ups of any reflections we could find or create. I decided to try reflecting interesting colours and shapes onto random metallic surfaces and the results were spectacular!
Below is a row of spoons reflecting a pattern from a piece of scrapbooking paper.
Another shot of the spoons from a higher angle.
Here I reflected a brightly coloured birthday card onto the handle of my 25lb dumbbell.
In case you are interested, here is my setup for the above photo. I was shooting with my 100mm canon macro lens and a full set of extension tubes.
This is a photo of feathers reflected in my kitchen grater. Hence my cheesy title on this post. Oh man, I did it again.
Another cool looking photo of the feathers reflecting in the grater.
This is the shiny inside of a granola bar wrapper, reflecting the same coloured balloons as I used previously. I crumpled the wrapper to make it extra interesting.
The strangest things can make interesting macro photos! I fished this wrapper out of the garbage can to reuse it for something artful.
This was my last shot of the evening. It looks like a refraction photo in a giant water drop, but it's actually a flower reflected in the very tip of my kitchen faucet.
One thing I've learned over the past 22 years of doing photography is that it's worth it to just TRY stuff! You never know what will end up looking amazing. Never dismiss an idea - just give it a shot.
