After a quiet morning at my campsite and a quick workout, I was joined by Katie and our sidekick, Emmett, for some explorations around the area. We checked out the rushing creek next to the site, drove down the road for a swim in Lake Kathlyn, and filled our water bottles full of huge salmon berries on the way back. It was HOT, clear and heavenly. Can't complain about that view, whatsoever! I was definitely feeling for all the people who were breathing smoky air throughout the rest of BC.
We had a stunning evening for a family hike to Crater Lake, which is about 2 hours round trip. The kids are awesome hikers and this is a regular family outing for this crew. Once we broke the tree line, it felt like we were on top of the world. Our objective was to get family photos for Katie & Dan, so I have to admit, I didn't take very many photos of the lake itself. Ooops!
