The waters of the river are rising. It happens every year that the road floods out, traffic is diverted for several weeks and those of us who travel this route anxiously wait for “the loop” to reopen. Already the road is partially covered. It always amazes me how quickly this happens - literally overnight the waters come in and what is normally a beautiful spot on the Riverfront Walking Trail becomes a raging torrent of dangerous waters.
In that moment of desperation I accept that no matter what I do, I can’t fight the current and win. And I humbly look up and realize, there’s been a bridge overhead the entire time. God always provides a way if we’ll just leave Him to it and stop trying to struggle through on our own.
Lessons in letting go.
