Today my class was intentionally using small depth of field blur to create the look of a painting. I shot these with my 50mm and 35mm lenses reversed, so that I could get extremely close and achieve a painterly look with the lens distortion. I am so in love with this soft style of macro photography, but I find it doesn't have the same response with the viewers. Nevertheless, an artist who creates for the viewer alone does themselves and the work an injustice, and so I create from my own experiences, my own emotions and my own beliefs.
I was overwhelmed by the beauty of sorrow today, of the hope and allure that still exist in the things that most people consider too far gone. That was my inspiration for these images.
Thank you for viewing my collection. It came straight from my heart.
The title of this post comes from a beautiful song by Rend Collective called "Weep with Me."
You can listen to it here.
